Explore Lake Mburo

Horse back Safari (Lake Mburo Uganda)

Lake Mburo NP is probably the smallest of the savannah national parks in East Africa. However, it is parked with gems and conveniently located close to Kampala making it the easiest park to visit when you have limited time.

This short tour will give you a complete experience of the park through game drives, walking safaris and a boat cruise on the lake which the park is named after. You may also tour the park on a mountain bike or on horseback.

Bush walk or Community tour & game drive

After an early breakfast, you have a guided nature walk. A ranger guide takes you on foot to the bush. Lake Mburo is the only place in this part of Uganda where you can see zebra and Impala and it’s also the best place to see the African Eland, Africa’s largest antelope!

Alternatively, you may go for an Ankole Community tour. The Banyankole people who are the residents in this part of the country are largely cattle keepers and they keep the famously known Ankole long-horned cows. The purpose of the community tour is to demonstrate the relationship between the people and their cattle and this will be closed with a cultural performance. In addition, you will get to learn their way of life and how it has been impacted by the park.

You return to the accommodation for a hot lunch and then you have time to relax.
In the afternoon, you embark on game drive exploring the wildlife in the park. In their conservation projects, the Uganda Wildlife Authority introduced the rothschild' giraffes to this part of the park. This has made the game drives more rewarding. You will see the large herds of zebras, buffaloes, antelopes and lot of endemic bird species.
