  • Day 01
    Arrival in Kigali

On your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our our driver-guide who will transfer you to your hotel.

Dinner & overnight at your accommodation

Kigali is the capital and largest city of Rwanda. It is near the nation's geographic centre in a region of rolling hills, with a series of valleys and ridges joined by steep slopes. It is a very clean and attractive city despite its dark past. A drive through the city is very refreshing and very well-lit at night.

  • Day 02
Kigali city tour – Transfer to Uganda (Kisoro)

Your driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodation and together you will go on a city tour. We have often noted that some visitors are intested in visiting the Genocide Memorial centre. Situated on the outskirts of the city, the centre commemorates the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis. A visit to the genocide memorial is for most visitors an emotional event.
You will continue your city tour at a local market or art centre depending on your interest. Thereafter, you will have a hot lunch at a local restaurant and then drive to Uganda via Cyanika border. Enjoy the views as you drive through the hills and valleys. If you would like, you may stop for photos.

  • Day 03
Gorilla Trekking (Bwindi – Nkuringo/Rushaga or Mgahinga Gorilla NP)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing. A packed lunch and mineral water will be provided. If you have any particular interests during the trekking, speak to your driver/guide who will help arrange this with the park rangers.  After briefing, you will be transferred to your starting point.
Your trekking today may either be in the Bwindi Impenetrable NP where you trek either Rushaga or Nkuringo or it may be at Mgahinga Gorilla NP where you will trek Nyakagezi.

We encourage you to hire a porter. Porters are members of the community whose main role during the hike is to help you carry your luggage and assist you during the hike whenever needed. By hiring a porter, you are making a valuable contribution to the community.

Gorilla trekking is unpredictable. It's difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike. The gorilla excursion can take from 2 up to 6 hours. A good physical condition is recommended. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. A ranger will brief you on how to behave with the gorillas.

Bwindi Impenetrable NP has a unique rich and varied ecosystem and has lowland rainforest and afromontane forest. It's considered as one of the most unique and important forests of Africa. UNESCO declared it as a Natural World Heritage site for Humanity for his many values and because it is vital to the survival of many endangered species.

Trekking the gorillas of Mgahinga Gorilla NP will give you a different gorilla experience than in Bwindi. Mount Mgahinga is a volcano and belongs to the Virunga chain of volcanoes.  The gorillas of the Virunga ranges differ when it comes to external characteristics and way of life. The gorillas in the Virunga live at a higher altitude and have longer fur. The shape of the nose and the facial folds are also different. When looking for food, Bwindi gorillas tend to travel longer distances per day.
